Serval escapes from private property in Orzysz, Poland

A serval named Gustaw escaped from a private property in Orzysz, located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. The animal, an exotic African predator, was reported missing to the Pisz District Police on Sunday.

Gustaw is described as having sandy, spotted fur, a short tail, and large ears. He is expected to be wearing red leather harnesses. The owner has offered a reward for information leading to his capture.

Police and local authorities are urging the public to exercise caution. Although the animal is described as having a relatively gentle temperament, officials warn against attempting to approach or capture the cat personally. Instead, anyone who spots the animal is instructed to call the emergency number 112 immediately. Authorities noted that while the species is legal to breed in Poland under specific regulations, the animal is not adapted to local weather conditions, making life in the wild potentially life-threatening for the cat.
