SES to Equip LATAM Fleet with Multi‑Orbit Satellite In‑Flight Connectivity

Space solutions provider SES has been chosen by LATAM Airlines to install its next‑generation multi‑orbit satellite connectivity on the carrier’s growing Airbus and Embraer fleet. Over the next few years more than 60 aircraft, including A320neo, A321XLR and E195‑E2 models, will receive the service via SES’s new electronically steered array (ESA) antenna that is under seven centimetres tall. The antenna links to satellites in multiple orbits, delivering a constant, high‑speed internet experience comparable to that at home.

The partnership, now nearing a decade, builds on LATAM’s existing 2Ku inflight Wi‑Fi service that already covers more than 250 of its aircraft. “LATAM’s passengers will soon benefit from reliable, multi‑orbit satellite connectivity… the same fast and dependable internet access they enjoy at home,” said Mike DeMarco, SES President of Mobility. LATAM Vice President of Customers Paulo Miranda added that the upgrade will “make every journey more connected” and raise the standard of travel across Latin America.
