Sesacre addresses rescue delays in Acre accident case

The Acre State Health Secretariat (Sesacre) has issued an official statement regarding the medical emergency response for Maria Conceição Lopes dos Santos, 49, who suffered bilateral arm amputations following an accident in the rural area of Assis Brasil.

Following complaints from the victim's family regarding delays in rescue and transport, Sesacre clarified that the patient was trapped in vehicle wreckage for approximately two to three hours. After being rescued, she was stabilized for over an hour in Assis Brasil. The secretariat explained that the delay in transfer was due to the local advanced support ambulance being under technical maintenance, necessitating the dispatch of a vehicle from Brasiléia.

Upon reaching Brasiléia, medical evaluations required a transfer to Rio Branco. Sesacre noted that the SAMU advanced support ambulance was returning from a previous trip to the capital and could only proceed once it returned to its base. While the family questioned the necessity of the intermediate stop in Brasiléia, the health department maintains that the patient received continuous care through the public network and that the process followed available operational resources. The secretariat stated that the patient's condition is currently stable.
