Sesai marks 16 years of indigenous health care in Brazil

The Special Secretariat for Indigenous Health (Sesai) marks its 16th anniversary of coordinating the National Policy for Indigenous Health Care in Brazil. As part of the Unified Health System (SUS), Sesai manages the Indigenous Health Care Subsystem (SasiSUS), serving over 830,000 indigenous people across all five regions of the country through 34 Special Indigenous Sanitary Districts (DSEI).

In conjunction with health service management, the Brazilian Agency for Support to SUS Management (AgSUS) has launched a selection process to hire professionals for the Tocantins DSEI. The recruitment drive includes various roles ranging from technical and administrative positions to specialized professionals such as nurses, dentists, and engineers. The selection process prioritizes indigenous candidates and emphasizes intercultural experience, with specific quotas reserved for black, mixed-race, indigenous, quilombola, and people with disabilities.
