Sesame food gifts valued for daily utility in consumer survey

A survey conducted by NEXER Group and sesame specialist Onizaki Corporation regarding consumer attitudes toward sesame-based food gifts has revealed key preferences among 500 participants in Japan.

According to the findings, the most appreciated aspect of receiving sesame-based gifts is that they can be used immediately for daily cooking. When considering the appropriate timing for such gifts, 39.0% of respondents identified ‘Ochugen’ (mid-year gift-giving season) as the most suitable occasion.

The study also highlighted broader trends in food gifting. Approximately 49.4% of respondents have experience both sending and receiving food gifts. The primary appeal of food gifts, cited by 39.8%, is the ability to provide recipients with high-quality items they might not purchase for themselves. When selecting gifts, 36.2% of consumers prioritize the price range to ensure the gift is appropriate for the recipient without causing undue social burden.
