Belo Horizonte offers free municipal bus travel this weekend

Belo Horizonte will offer free municipal bus services throughout the entire upcoming weekend, marking the first time the ‘Catraca Livre’ program has operated on both a Saturday and Sunday consecutively. The free service applies to conventional and supplementary lines from 0:00 to 23:59 on both Saturday, August 15, and Sunday, August 16.

The Saturday free passage coincides with the municipal holiday of the Assumption of Our Lady. While the program typically covers Sundays and holidays, this extended weekend aims to facilitate access to public spaces and leisure areas. Passengers with a BHBUS card should present it to register the trip, while those without a card will have their access released manually by drivers or station staff. The benefit does not extend to the metro system or include metro fare integration.
