Sesc Iparana Reserva Natural recognized as private nature reserve

The Sesc Iparana Reserva Natural in Caucaia has been officially recognized as a Private Natural Heritage Reserve (RPPN). The decision, published in the Official Gazette by the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), formalizes a conservation process initiated by Sesc Ceará in 2008.

The designation covers 12.51 hectares, protecting one of the last remaining fragments of the Atlantic Forest on the coast of Ceará. As a private conservation unit, the area is intended to preserve biological diversity and prevent real estate exploitation in a region experiencing intense urban expansion.

In addition to environmental protection, the reserve is designated to support scientific research, environmental education, and ecotourism, serving schools, universities, and the general community.
