Cachoeira do Sul intensifies homeless aid amid cold snap; Novo Cabrais plans health council conference

Facing a spell of unusually low temperatures, the municipality of Cachoeira do Sul stepped up outreach to people experiencing homelessness. The city’s Social Development Secretariat expanded shelter services, offering nightly entry to the municipal hostel, meals, showers, overnight stays and breakfast. For those who declined the shelter, teams distributed blankets and food, coordinated with the specialized social assistance centre (CREAS), and conducted health actions such as flu vaccinations and scabies medication distribution.

In nearby Novo Cabrais, the Municipal Health Council held a meeting to set the venue for the 9th Municipal Health Conference, scheduled for 30 May at the CTG Presilha Pampeana. The council also reorganised its leadership, appointing a new board and outlining an incentive ordinance for future activities. Officials from health, finance, education and civil society participated, underscoring ongoing local efforts to strengthen municipal health governance.
