Sestri Levante officials manage school, infrastructure, and shipyard projects
The Sestri Levante municipal administration is addressing several local infrastructure and development projects. During a community meeting in the Pila district, Mayor Francesco Solinas confirmed that a new school is scheduled for inauguration on September 12, 2026. Additionally, the administration plans to implement eight new parking spaces on via Bo to manage traffic flow.
Infrastructure works will also impact local transit, as the via Fascie underpass is set to close for two to three months starting September 7 to allow for the installation of a new sewage network. This closure is expected to increase traffic on via Terzi and via Nazionale.
Separately, the municipal council is scheduled to vote on the expansion of Fincantieri's Riva Trigoso shipyard. The project involves the construction of new launching piers, fully funded by Fincantieri. In exchange for approving the works, the municipality will acquire ownership of the bocciodromo areas and over 40 parking spaces on via Gramsci, which are expected to be available by 2027. The meeting has faced political tension, with opposition members citing scheduling conflicts as a reason for their potential absence.
