Seta labor dispute: Fit Cisl secures exemption from bonus penalties
A legal conciliation reached before the Labor Judge of Modena has created a divide among trade unions regarding driver bonuses at Seta. The agreement specifically benefits members of the Fit Cisl union, exempting them from a controversial penalty mechanism colloquially known as the ‘fatigue tax’.
Under the new rules signed by the majority of unions, drivers face a 40% reduction in their performance bonus (approximately 800 euros annually) upon the first road accident, regardless of the damage extent. However, Fit Cisl members will maintain the previous regime, where penalties only apply after two accidents and a total damage threshold of 2,500 euros is exceeded, with a maximum deduction capped at 20%.
While Fit Cisl leadership describes the settlement as a victory for protecting workers' wages, other unions, including Cgil, Uil, and Faisa Cisal, have criticized the arrangement. They argue that the creation of a dual system is inequitable and penalizes employees who are not members of Fit Cisl.
