Setúbal Municipal Assembly responds to Herdade da Comenda petition

The Municipal Assembly of Setúbal has responded to a petition regarding the Herdade da Comenda, informing petitioners that the matter has been forwarded to the Commission for Territorial Planning, Mobility, and Economic Development for ongoing analysis.

Petitioners, led by Alexandre Calapez, have expressed dissatisfaction with the response, arguing it lacks specific details regarding when the petition was officially forwarded and what investigative steps have been taken. The group, which includes over 1,600 subscribers, is seeking the declaration of public utility and the expropriation of lands to ensure access to the Comenda picnic area and several local beaches, including Albarquel, Comenda, Maria Esguelha, Rasca, and Rainha.

A central dispute involves the legal deadlines for completing the required report. Petitioners claim that, according to municipal regulations, the deadline for the report expired on August 20, 2026. In response to the Assembly's latest communication, Calapez has submitted a new request for clarification to the President of the Municipal Assembly, Paulo Lopes, citing the Code of Administrative Procedure.
