Setúbal Municipal Services Engage 3,500 Youth in Environmental Education Initiative
Municipal Services of Setúbal (Portugal) reported that more than 3,500 children and young people took part in a series of environmental‑sensitisation actions during the first half of 2026. The program, called “Consciência Ambiental em Ação”, promoted water‑tap consumption, proper waste separation, valorisation of biowaste, protection of sanitation networks and circular‑economy practices through school workshops, door‑to‑door outreach, a musical theatre piece titled “Há um Monstro no Esgoto”, and support for domestic and community composting.
In Brazil, industry stakeholders are advancing waste‑valorisation initiatives that transform organic, dry and mixed residues into fertilizers, biomass, energy and new products. The approach, described as going beyond simple recycling, involves chemical and mechanical processes to reuse plastics, glass, metals and other materials, helping reduce greenhouse‑gas emissions and cutting operational costs for companies such as Fragmaq.
