Setúbal Municipality acquires Archaeology and Ethnography Museum
The Setúbal City Council is assuming full management and ownership of the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography of the Setúbal District (MAEDS). The acquisition, which includes the buildings located on Avenida Luísa Todi, involves a total investment of two million euros.
The transfer of ownership from the Association of Municipalities of the Setúbal Region (AMRS) to the municipality follows a decision by the AMRS to reorganize and rationalize its finances. As part of the agreement, the museum's existing staff will be reassigned to the municipality.
Founded in December 1974, MAEDS is regarded by local authorities as a key cultural institution for the research, conservation, and promotion of the region's archaeological and ethnographic heritage.
