Setúbal stabbing attack leads to arrest of 62-year-old suspect

A 62-year-old man has been placed in preventive detention following an attempted murder in Setúbal, Portugal. The attack occurred at a pastry shop on Rua António José Batista, where the suspect surprised a victim sitting at an outdoor terrace and stabbed them in the chest.

Witnesses and customers at the establishment intervened to prevent further stabbings, which authorities believe may have prevented a more fatal outcome. The victim sustained serious injuries and was transported by firefighters to the Hospital de São Bernardo.

The Public Security Police (PSP) located the suspect, who was still in possession of the knife used in the attack. He was arrested in flagrante delicto and faces charges of attempted murder.
