Seth Jarvis donates to UNC Children's Hospital facility dog program

Carolina Hurricanes forward Seth Jarvis has made a donation to UNC Children's Hospital to fund the new Paws & Heel UNC Children's Facility Dog Program. The initiative will introduce specially trained dogs into the hospital as full-time members of the care team to support pediatric patients and their families.

The facility dogs are intended to provide companionship, serve as a distraction during medical procedures, and offer stress relief for both children and healthcare professionals. According to Eve K. Hammett, vice president and associate chief nursing officer at UNC Hospitals, the program aims to create a more welcoming and comforting environment for families facing difficult hospital experiences.

UNC Children's anticipates having its first two facility dogs in place by mid-2027.
