SETIA union prepares legal action against Australtex

The Textile Industry and Affiliated Employees Union (SETIA) is preparing legal action against the company Australtex in Río Grande, Argentina. The dispute arises from the company's decision to eliminate the 'unfavorable zone' salary supplement for its workers.

SETIA Secretary General Rodrigo Cárcamo stated that the union is gathering documentation to challenge the move, arguing that the supplement is protected by a collective bargaining agreement and a 2012 agreement approved by the Tierra del Fuego Ministry of Labor. The union claims the decision arbitrarily reduces worker wages and threatens the funding of the employees' social security healthcare system, noting that the company already has outstanding debts in that area.
