Setouchi City recruits energy consultants for decarbonization goals

Setouchi City in Okayama Prefecture is recruiting two regional energy consultants as part of its Local Revitalization Cooperation Corps. Working in collaboration with Setouchi City Citizen Power Co., Ltd., the selected individuals will support the city’s goal of achieving a decarbonized society by 2040, ahead of national targets.

The role involves conducting resource surveys, managing public relations for decarbonization policies, and planning and executing community-led renewable energy projects. The city aims to expand its cooperation corps from five members to 30 by April 2026 to address challenges such as population decline and an aging society.

Mayor Kentaro Kuroishi, who moved to the city himself, emphasized the importance of using private-sector business expertise and marketing to enhance the city’s appeal and promote regional revitalization.
