Setsunan University students develop medicinal plant garden app
Students at Setsunan University have developed a specialized learning application for the university's affiliated medicinal plant garden. The project was conducted within Professor Eri Nishi's laboratory in the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Information Engineering.
The application features two distinct modes. The ‘Tour Mode’ is designed for the general public, providing map-based routes to locate approximately 300 species of medicinal plants and offering quizzes and a digital encyclopedia. The ‘Study Mode’ is tailored for pharmacy students, facilitating self-study through multiple-choice questions regarding plant names, crude drug names, and Latin scientific names, allowing for repetitive learning to reinforce pharmaceutical knowledge.
The application will be officially unveiled during a public garden tour scheduled for August 22, 2026, in Hirakata, Osaka.
