Seula to build Spain's largest battery recycling plant in Pedrola

The Aragonese company Seula is partnering with the Chinese multinational Miracle Automation to construct a lithium battery recycling plant in Pedrola, Spain. The project involves an investment of 12.5 million euros and aims to become the largest facility of its kind in the country.

The plant is designed to process batteries from electric vehicles as well as large-format equipment, such as energy storage systems for photovoltaic plants. Once fully developed, the facility is expected to reach an annual treatment capacity of 40,000 tons. Implementation will be progressive, with the first phase scheduled for 2028, targeting a capacity of 5,000 tons per year.

The project, which is expected to create 100 jobs, follows the development of a new industrial ecosystem in the Zaragoza region, driven by the presence of major players like CATL and Stellantis in the local electric vehicle gigafactory sector.
