Seungri under investigation for alleged assault in Seoul

Seungri, a former member of the K-pop group BIGBANG, is under police investigation for alleged special assault following an incident at a restaurant in the Gangnam district of Seoul.

The Gangnam Police Station received a report on August 26 regarding a dispute between Seungri and a man in his 30s. According to the reports, the conflict arose when the man repeatedly requested to join Seungri’s table during a meal. Seungri has admitted to picking up a liquor bottle during the argument but denied using it to threaten or strike the individual.

Seungri stated that after the initial disagreement, the parties exchanged contact information and continued to socialize, which led him to feel blindsided by the subsequent legal complaint. He has indicated his intention to cooperate with the investigation and is considering filing counter-charges for false accusation, citing CCTV footage and witness testimonies as evidence.

This investigation marks a new legal challenge for Seungri, who previously served a 18-month prison sentence related to the Burning Sun scandal involving charges of fraud, embezzlement, and facilitating prostitution before his release in February 2023.
