Seungri denies special assault charges involving soju bottle

Former BIGBANG member Seungri has been booked on charges of special assault following an incident at a restaurant in Seoul on August 8. A complainant, a man in his 30s, alleges that Seungri and his companions assaulted, threatened, and confined him, claiming Seungri brandished a soju bottle and made threats involving organized crime.

Seungri’s legal representative, Attorney Yoon Jae-bin of Surim Law Firm, issued a statement denying the allegations of physical violence. While admitting that Seungri picked up a soju bottle during a heated verbal altercation, the defense maintains that the bottle was never swung or used to strike anyone. The legal team stated the incident arose after the complainant repeatedly refused to leave the table despite multiple requests.

The defense further claims that the parties initially parted on good terms and exchanged text messages before the complainant filed a criminal report several days later. Seungri’s lawyers noted that while the client regrets his inappropriate emotional conduct, he will not settle by admitting to actions he did not commit. The Gangnam Police Station plans to summon Seungri for investigation.
