SEV warns supermarket price reductions may end after October

The Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Industry (SEV) has indicated that the continuation of supermarket price reductions beyond October 2026 is uncertain. The current agreement, which aims for a 5% to 20% reduction in the prices of basic consumer goods, is only guaranteed for September and October.

SEV President Spyros Theodoropoulos stated that rising energy and transportation costs, driven by renewed tensions in the Persian Gulf, have created significant economic uncertainty. While there may be discussions with the government regarding the November–December period, no formal commitment has been made for the months following October.
