Seven arrested after weapons store robbery in Sitten, Switzerland
On the night of 3–4 July 2026 a robbery was carried out at a weapons shop in Sitten, Valais. The thieves broke through the front door, seized firearms and other merchandise and fled in a French‑registered vehicle.
The Wallis cantonal police launched a large‑scale manhunt involving the Vaud cantonal police, municipal forces from Monthey and Martigny, the regional police (PRVC), the Federal Customs and Border Guard, dog units from both cantons, drones and a Super‑Puma army helicopter equipped with night‑vision and thermal imaging. Within hours the suspects were tracked to Vérossaz, where two were apprehended in the vehicle and the remaining three were captured on foot together with two accomplices. All seven detainees are French nationals aged 16 to 31, and most of the stolen goods have been recovered. The cantonal prosecutor and youth court have opened investigations, and the suspects will remain in custody pending further questioning.
