Seven & i Holdings drops planned Zabka Group investment

Japan’s Seven & i Holdings announced on 25 July 2026 that it has ended negotiations to acquire a stake in Zabka Group, Poland’s largest convenience‑store operator. The proposed transaction, valued at several hundred billion yen, would have given Seven & i a foothold in the Eastern European market where Zabka runs about 12,750 stores in Poland and Romania.

The company said it could not reach an agreement on terms that would be in the best interests of its shareholders and other partners. Despite the setback, Seven & i reaffirmed that Europe remains an attractive growth opportunity and it will continue to evaluate other investment possibilities in the region.

Zabka’s principal shareholders are private‑equity fund CVC (37.6 % of shares) and PG Investment Company (10 %). The termination of talks halted a recent surge in Zabka’s share price that followed earlier reports of the deal.
