Seven & i Holdings ends planned investment in Poland's Zabka Group

Seven & i Holdings Co., the Japanese owner of the 7‑Eleven convenience‑store network, announced that it will not proceed with its intended investment in Poland's Zabka Group. The company said it could not reach an agreement with the seller on terms it deemed in the best interests of its shareholders and other stakeholders. The contemplated deal was reported to be worth several hundred billion yen and would have given Seven & i a minority stake in Zabka, which operates roughly 12,700 stores across Poland and Romania.

The news triggered a sharp fall in Zabka's shares on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, with price drops reported between 9% and 13% in early trading. Analysts noted that the aborted transaction removed a potential catalyst for faster expansion of Zabka’s franchise network.

Despite the setback, Seven & i reiterated that Europe remains an attractive growth market and the firm will continue to assess suitable investment opportunities in the region. The retailer also reaffirmed its broader ambition to grow the global 7‑Eleven footprint to 100,000 stores and to be present in about 30 countries by 2030.
