Germany reports two fatal family-related violent crimes

Two separate violent incidents involving family members occurred in Germany on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

In Künzell, a 46-year-old man was arrested following a violent attack that left a 72-year-old man dead and a 67-year-old woman seriously injured. Authorities stated that the suspect and the victims share a familial relationship. The Fulda Public Prosecutor's Office and the East Hesse Police Department are investigating the motive.

In a separate incident in a district of Melsungen, a 74-year-old man killed his 75-year-old ex-wife before taking his own life. The Kassel Public Prosecutor's Office has ordered an autopsy, and criminal investigators from the Schwalm-Eder district are examining the circumstances of the case.
