Algeciras Port accident kills two women after car falls into sea

Two Moroccan women, aged 71 and 43, died after their vehicle plunged into the sea at the Port of Algeciras, Spain, while attempting to board a ferry to Tangier. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday at the Galera dock.

The vehicle had previously passed through a National Police checkpoint and was directed to a waiting area. However, the car veered toward the edge of berth No. 1 and fell into the water. Two men in the vehicle managed to escape and were treated by emergency services; one, an elderly man, remains in critical condition.

Divers from the Civil Guard's Special Activities Group (GEAS) recovered the bodies of the two women, who were trapped in the rear seats. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident, with preliminary findings suggesting the driver may have become disoriented due to fog.

Separate traffic incidents were also reported in Spain: a four-vehicle collision in Cuenca left seven people injured, and a collision between a car and a van in La Fuente de San Esteban resulted in six hospitalizations. Additionally, a single-vehicle rollover in Leganés left one driver with minor injuries.
