Seven kittens rescued from abandoned pool in Schwechat, Austria
Firefighters in Schwechat, Austria, responded to a call after a resident heard persistent meowing from a neglected property. The crew found seven very young cats trapped in a disused, empty swimming pool that they could not climb out of. Using a net, the volunteers lifted each kitten from the water, placed them in a transport box and took them to the nearby Brunn animal shelter for care.
The rescue was the second animal‑related call for the volunteer fire department that day, following an earlier operation to free a snake from a light shaft. Both incidents highlight the department’s role in local animal‑welfare emergencies.
