Seven UNH students injured in Huancavelica traffic accident
Seven students from the Universidad Nacional de Huancavelica (UNH) were injured in a traffic accident during the early hours of September 18 on the PE-3S national highway in the Tayacaja province, Huancavelica region.
The collision involved a bus transporting students from the Faculty of Zootechnics on a study trip to the Acraquia district and a Scania bus belonging to the Molina company. According to the UNH rector, the Molina bus was reportedly parked on the highway without lights or signaling devices, which hindered visibility during the accident.
Emergency responders from the Izcuchaca Health Center provided initial aid. Three students with minor injuries were treated on-site, while four others were evacuated to the Clínica Rebagliati in Huancayo for specialized medical evaluation. All seven students are reported to be in stable condition.
National Police have detained two individuals for alleged offenses against life, body, and health in the form of injuries. Authorities, including the Superintendency of Land Transport (Sutran), are investigating the circumstances of the crash to determine responsibility regarding the parked vehicle's lack of signaling.
