Severance Hospital establishes prenatal care cooperation system
Severance Hospital has established a medical cooperation system to streamline prenatal care and specialized treatment for high-risk pregnancies. Through the newly developed ‘Severance OB Group’ platform, local clinics and the tertiary hospital will divide medical responsibilities based on pregnancy risk and stage.
Under this system, local clinics provide routine prenatal checkups, while Severance Hospital handles specialized services such as detailed ultrasounds for fetal abnormalities and delivery consultations. For high-risk cases, such as fetal growth restriction or congenital malformations, a ‘one-stop fast-track’ ensures rapid access to specialized care. Once childbirth is complete, patients are referred back to their local clinics for continuous follow-up care.
To improve efficiency, the hospital developed a mobile app for easy medical referrals, allowing doctors and patients to use electronic signatures and attach medical records via mobile devices. The platform currently includes nine clinics in the Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon areas, with plans to expand the network to secondary medical institutions.
