Severe Damage to Saudi Arabia's Baqiq Oil Complex After Yemeni Drone Attack

New satellite images show extensive damage to the Baqiq oil complex in eastern Saudi Arabia following a Yemeni drone strike earlier this week. The photos reveal fires, flames shooting from refinery units and severe damage to multiple gas‑storage tanks and pressure vessels, suggesting the facility could remain offline longer than initially estimated. The complex, which can process around 7 million barrels of crude per day, is a key node in Saudi oil exports.

Yemeni armed forces said the attack targeted several critical points in the Saudi oil supply chain in retaliation for Saudi drone incursions into Yemeni airspace. The images, released by Bloomberg via the Sentinel‑2 satellite, confirm the wider impact beyond the initially reported pressure‑vessel damage, including white and black cooling covers placed over two tanks to contain gas leaks.
