Severe rainstorm with hail batteres Guadalajara metro area

A strong rainstorm with thunderstorms, hail and gusty winds affected Guadalajara and surrounding municipalities on Friday, August 7. The heavy precipitation caused reduced visibility, traffic slow‑downs and localized flooding in areas such as Federalismo, Circunvalación, the city centre, Mezquitán Country and parts of Zapopan, Tonalá and Zapotlanejo. Residents were urged to drive cautiously and avoid water‑logged roads.

The National Meteorological Service linked the event to tropical wave 25, which intensified rainfall over western Jalisco. Forecasts called for very heavy rain accumulations of 75–150 mm in the western part of the state and wind gusts of 30–50 km/h. The service warned of possible flash floods, river‑level rises and further hail in the coming days, with rain expected to continue through the weekend.
