Severe storm and weather warnings issued for Iceland
A powerful low-pressure system is expected to move over Iceland, bringing heavy storms, strong winds, and intense precipitation including rain and snow. The Icelandic Meteorological Office has issued storm warnings for the entire country, with orange warnings anticipated for the Westfjords, Breiðafjörður, and Northwest and Southwest Iceland.
Due to the approaching storm, authorities ordered the Paul Watson Foundation ship, ‘Bandero’, to be towed from Akranes back to Reykjavík. This move has sparked a legal dispute regarding relocation costs, as the organization’s legal counsel argues the vessel was not moved voluntarily. The ship remains in Iceland amid ongoing litigation involving Hvalur hf regarding whaling interference.
