Severe Storm in Rathen, Saxony Kills One and Topples Trees

A heavy thunderstorm struck the village of Rathen in the Saxon Switzerland National Park on Friday night, causing extensive tree damage and a fatality. According to reporter Djamina Böl, many trees were uprooted across the area, and a man was found dead among the debris. The storm also injured several other people. The incident was discussed with Daniel Thomann of the state forestry agency Sachsenforst, who described the extent of the damage and the challenges of clearing the forest. Weather forecasts for the following day predicted warmer, clearer conditions with temperatures up to 27 °C.
