Heavy rains cause flooding and landslides in Caracas and Aragua

Heavy rainfall and strong winds have caused widespread disruption across Venezuela and Mexico. In Caracas and the state of Miranda, intense storms led to significant flooding, fallen trees, and rising river levels, particularly in the Guaire River. Emergency services, including the Caracas Fire Department, responded to incidents such as an eight-meter tree falling on vehicles on Avenida Panteón and landslides in Petare. A major structural fire at the Mercado de Emprendedores in Caracas also forced the evacuation of approximately 300 people.

In Aragua state, the Maracay-Choroní highway has faced closures due to landslides. Authorities noted that recent seismic activity has increased the vulnerability of the terrain, making even moderate rainfall a trigger for landslides in the Henri Pittier National Park area.

In Mexico, heavy rains in Puebla caused flooding at 16 strategic points, requiring emergency intervention by Agua de Puebla para Todos to restore traffic flow. Additionally, the Plan Venezuela Renace program continues to provide credit to over 500 condominiums for repairs following previous seismic events in the region.
