Severe storms in Misiones and water quality crises in Nezahualcóyotl

Severe weather and water quality issues are affecting communities in Misiones, Argentina, and Nezahualcóyotl, Mexico.

In Misiones, successive storms and hail have impacted nearly 500 families across nine municipalities. A tornado in San Pedro's Cruce Caballero area caused a 300-meter wide path of destruction, resulting in one death and 22 affected families. Other affected areas include Eldorado, Montecarlo, El Soberbio, and Puerto Piray. Provincial authorities and emergency services are providing aid, including food modules and building materials, to assist with housing reconstruction and service recovery.

In Nezahualcóyotl, residents have reported receiving black, foul-smelling, and gelatinous water through their domestic supply. Citizens have expressed dissatisfaction with municipal president Adolfo Cerqueda Rebollo, alleging that the water quality is comparable to canal water and accusing local authorities of failing to address the supply issues while profiting from expensive private water tankers.
