Severe Thunderstorms and Strong Winds Forecast for Southern Saudi Arabia

The Saudi National Center for Meteorology predicts thunderstorms with hail and active winds across parts of Jazan, Asir, Al‑Baha and extending into the highlands of the Mecca region. Dust‑laden winds will sharply reduce horizontal visibility on the coastal road to Jazan and the eastern portions of Najran, while maximum temperatures remain high in the southeastern Eastern Province.

On the Red Sea, surface winds will be north‑west to west at 12‑35 km/h in the northern and central areas, shifting to west‑south‑west at 15‑40 km/h in the south, with gusts above 50 km/h where rain clouds form. Wave heights are expected to range from 0.5‑1.5 m up to more than 2 m, with sea conditions ranging from light to moderate and becoming choppy as thunderstorms develop.

In the Arabian Gulf, winds will be north‑west to west at 15‑35 km/h in the north, turning north‑east to east and then northward in the evening at 10‑25 km/h over the central and southern sectors. Wave heights will be 0.5‑1.5 m in the north and 0.5‑1 m elsewhere, with sea states remaining light to moderate.
