Severe thunderstorms threaten Michigan and Indiana

Severe weather threats have been identified across parts of Michigan and Indiana, with meteorologists monitoring the potential for significant wind gusts and hail.

The National Weather Service issued warnings for Branch County, Michigan, and portions of Indiana, including St. Joseph, Steuben, and LaGrange counties. These warnings included predictions of wind gusts reaching up to 60 mph and hail as large as 1 inch in diameter. Affected areas included Sturgis, Angola, Bronson, and various communities along Interstate 69 and Interstate 80.

Additionally, the Storm Prediction Center noted an organizing convective cluster moving toward lower Michigan. This system has the potential to produce severe wind gusts and hail as it moves through the region, with a possibility of a Severe Thunderstorm Watch being issued for portions of southern lower Michigan.
