Severe weather alerts issued for Catalonia regions

Severe weather alerts have been issued across several regions in Catalonia, Spain, following intense storms and heavy rainfall. The Meteorological Service of Catalonia (Meteocat) placed the Ripollès region at the maximum danger level (level 6 of 6) due to the threat of violent weather, including wind gusts exceeding 90 km/h and hail more than two centimeters in diameter.

Other areas, including Cerdanya and Berguedà, have also been placed under high alert. The storm activity has already caused disruptions, with emergency services receiving dozens of calls. In the Pallars Jussà region, wind gusts reached up to 111 km/h, and significant rainfall was recorded, such as 38.5 mm in 30 minutes at Lac Redon.

The storms have led to practical impacts, including fallen trees and the closure of a lane on the C-14 road in Alt Urgell due to hail. Civil Protection has advised extreme caution as the weather patterns move toward the eastern Pyrenees.
