Severe weather alerts issued for New York and Great Lakes regions

Severe weather threats are active across parts of the Northeastern and Midwestern United States. In New York, a Yellow Alert has been issued through Sunday evening due to the potential for damaging winds and hail. Storms are expected to impact the Rochester metro area, potentially moving east toward Central New York and the Finger Lakes.

In the Great Lakes region, the Storm Prediction Center has identified a potential for severe weather affecting northeast Ohio, northwest Pennsylvania, and western New York. Increasing storm coverage and intensity are expected along a cold front, with risks including locally strong to damaging gusts of up to 60 mph and marginal hail.
