Severe weather alerts issued in Argentina and Mexico

Civil protection authorities in Argentina and Mexico have issued weather alerts due to incoming severe storms and persistent heavy rainfall.

In Misiones, Argentina, a yellow alert has been issued for the southern and central regions. Officials expect intense rain, electrical discharges, potential hail, and wind gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour. Rainfall accumulations could reach 90 millimeters. Subsecretary of Civil Protection Enrique Parra noted that the arrival of the front was moved up to early Saturday morning. The weather pattern is influenced by the Santa Rosa storms and the El Niño phenomenon, which may increase precipitation levels.

In Mexico City, an orange alert has been activated for the Coyoacán, Iztapalapa, and Xochimilco districts due to persistent heavy rains, with forecasts of 30 to 49 millimeters. A yellow alert remains in effect for several other districts, including Álvaro Obregón, Benito Juárez, and Tlalpan, where rainfall of 15 to 29 millimeters is expected. Authorities have advised residents to avoid flooded roads and stay clear of trees, walls, and power lines.
