NSW SES responds to widespread rainfall and flooding

The New South Wales State Emergency Service (NSW SES) has responded to more than 274 incidents following widespread rainfall across the state. A significant portion of these calls originated from the South Coast, where 123 incidents involved requests for assistance with leaking roofs, fallen trees, and sandbagging.

In Eden, approximately 40 vehicles were trapped on the Princes Highway for three hours due to flooding and a fallen tree. Additionally, over 100 people were temporarily stranded at a golf club as surrounding areas became inundated.

Forecasts indicate further heavy rainfall and damaging winds for the South Coast, Shoalhaven, Illawarra, and Sydney regions. Meteorologists predict up to 120mm of rain over the next three days, with isolated storm cells potentially delivering up to 200mm. The NSW SES has advised residents in low-lying areas and near river mouths to prepare for potential flash flooding and to move to higher ground if conditions deteriorate.
