Severe weather and infrastructure issues cause outages in Brazil

Heavy storms and infrastructure failures have caused significant utility disruptions in different Brazilian regions. In Botucatu, intense rainfall and wind gusts between Saturday night and Sunday morning left several neighborhoods without electricity and compromised the water supply. Sabesp reported that the power outages affected the water distribution system, impacting areas such as Jardim Bom Pastor, Vila dos Médicos, Vila Nova Botucatu, and Jardim Paraíso. The Civil Defense recorded 19 incidents, including roof damage, fallen trees, and electrical network damage.

In Teresópolis, residents experienced frequent power surges and outages due to a technical problem at the Fonte Santa substation. Enel Rio attributed the instability to issues at the substation located near BR-116, leading to multiple service interruptions in neighborhoods such as Agriões.
