Severe weather causes disruptions in Toyama and Okinawa
Severe weather conditions caused by heavy rain and Typhoon No. 18 have led to significant disruptions across Toyama and Okinawa prefectures.
In Toyama, heavy rainfall resulted in the closure of the Hokuriku Expressway between Tonami and Kosugi Interchanges. The region also experienced landslides, flooding of the Joetsu River, and power outages in Himi, prompting evacuation orders for over 42,000 people.
In Okinawa, following the lifting of storm warnings, several transportation and service restrictions related to Typhoon No. 18 are being eased. Road closures on the Urasoe Kita Road and various bridges are being lifted, and public services, including the Driver's License Center in Tomigusuku and medical facilities like Yuai Medical Center, have resumed normal operations.
