Sevilla elderly woman faces imminent eviction

Rosario, a 75-year-old widow with a 38% disability rating, is facing eviction from her home in the old quarter of Seville. The property, which she and her late husband purchased 44 years ago, was auctioned by a bank following unpaid mortgage debts linked to a failed family business.

Despite her extreme vulnerability, Rosario reports that her legal counsel has been unable to prevent the eviction process. Her lawyer, Alberto de Lara, noted that while a previous eviction was suspended in December after demonstrating her vulnerable status, that legal expectation has not been taken into consideration by the courts.

Rosario has been postponing a necessary hip surgery due to the fear that she will have no home to return to for recovery. She has expressed a desire to negotiate a manageable rental agreement with the new property owner to avoid homelessness.
