Sevilla FC announces squad for Trofeo Antonio Puerta against Aston Villa

Sevilla FC has announced its 23-man squad for the 15th edition of the Trofeo Antonio Puerta, a match scheduled for Thursday at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán against Aston Villa. Manager Luis García Plaza has excluded international players from the list, as well as Rubén Vargas and Kike Salas. Notable inclusions in the squad are Fabio Cardoso and Fran González, who returns following a minor injury. The roster is rounded out by academy players Manuel Ángel, Ibra Sow, and Loren Luchino.

Amidst preparations for the trophy, recent international performances have drawn mixed reactions. Athletic Club's Nico Williams praised the atmosphere at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán following Spain's 4-1 victory over Croatia in the UEFA Nations League. Conversely, Sevilla striker Robbie Ure faces scrutiny after a scoreless period with both club and the Scottish national team, marking ten consecutive official matches without a goal.
