Sevilla FC cancels Patrik Mercado signing due to injury

Sevilla FC has officially cancelled the signing of Ecuadorian midfielder Patrik Mercado due to ongoing medical concerns. The club had previously reached an agreement with Independiente del Valle for a transfer valued at six million euros, which included a contract for the 23-year-old player for five seasons.

The transfer had been suspended following a serious knee injury Mercado sustained in mid-March, involving a torn anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus damage in his right knee. Recent medical examinations determined that the player has not yet fully recovered, leading the Andalusian club to desist from the operation.

Sevilla's sporting director, José Ignacio Navarro, had previously noted that the agreement was contingent upon meeting certain conditions. Ultimately, the player's physical state failed to meet those requirements.
