Sevilla hosts opening of Feria de San Miguel bullfighting festival

The Feria de San Miguel has commenced at the Real Maestranza de Caballería de Sevilla, featuring high-profile bullfighting events and a novillada.

In the main corrida, bullfighters Talavante, José María Manzanares, and Juan Ortega faced bulls from the El Puerto de San Lorenzo and La Ventana del Puerto ranches. Talavante delivered a notable performance with the fifth bull, though a defective sword thrust prevented him from securing higher honors. Manzanares and Ortega also performed, though the bulls generally lacked the expected stamina and rhythm.

The opening novillada saw performances by Olga Casado, Ignacio Garibay, and Manuel Domínguez. While the bulls from Garcigrande were criticized for lacking strength and presence, Garibay and Domínguez were noted for their technical skill and intention, despite failing to secure trophies due to unsuccessful sword thrusts.

The festivities, held under intense heat, have drawn various social and media figures to the arena, marking a significant start to the autumn bullfighting season in Seville.
