Sevilla targets George Ilenikhena on loan from Al-Ittihad

Sevilla FC is pursuing a loan deal for 19-year-old striker George Ilenikhena to bolster its attacking options for the upcoming La Liga season. The Nigerian-born forward, who holds the record as the youngest Nigerian-born player to score in the UEFA Champions League, is currently under contract with Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad until the 2028-29 season.

Ilenikhena’s move to Al-Ittihad from Monaco in February 2026 for a reported €33 million has seen limited playing time, with only a few appearances and no goals. The striker is reportedly open to returning to European football to secure more regular playing time. Sevilla is facing competition for his signature from West Ham United and Schalke 04.

The search for a new forward follows the departure of Akor Adams, who recently transferred to Venezia for €16 million. Ilenikhena previously gained international attention for scoring decisive goals against Barcelona while playing for Royal Antwerp and Monaco.
