Seville and Barcelona showcase sustainable building and circular architecture

In Seville, new construction projects are increasingly using Building Information Modeling (BIM), the Passivhaus standard and industrialised timber solutions to lower energy consumption and improve habitability. Initiatives such as the Plan Hábitat Sevilla and Plan Ecovivienda target the retrofitting of existing housing stock, while fresh developments like Hotel Triana House, The Wave House and the Villa Llantén incorporate bioclimatic design, high insulation and optimal orientation.

During the UIA World Congress of Architects in Barcelona, ULMA collaborated on the CIMBRA pavilion, a reversible, zero‑waste structure built from the company's lightweight modular formwork system (LGW) and stabilisers. The design exemplifies circular‑economy principles by allowing materials to re‑enter the supply chain after the event, reinforcing Spain’s broader shift toward digitalised, eco‑friendly construction practices.
